The RA (Right Ascension) assembly.  Shows the mounting bracket, the "thimble" which fits over the Polar Alignment Scope, and the RA encoder (not included in the kit). The DEC (declination) gears, bracket, and bottom of the DEC encoder.  The gear ratio is 2:1, so the DEC encoder only needs to have half the resolution of the RA encoder. Installing the DEC encoder bracket requires removing only 1 screw and replacing it with a longer screw included in the kit.  The proper wrench for this metric screws is also included.  Note the machined slot for the DEC encoder shaft.  This slot allows compensation for mount manufacturing tolerances. The DEC gear is easy installed over the top of the DEC weight shaft.  There is a bevel on top of the DEC gear collar to assist with exact centering.  Note the set screw in the DEC gear collar.
